“The Sheletta Show” named best MN podcast by Minnesota Monthly Magazine

“The Sheletta Show,’ which airs Saturdays on WCCO Radio, has been named the

Best MN podcast by editors at Minnesota Monthly Magazine in its November 2024 issue. Recognized as one of the publication’s Editors’ Picks, the podcast, hosted by Sheletta Brundidge, serves as a vital platform that keeps the conversation going to help make the Minnesota community more inclusive.

Brundidge, a well-known community activist and Twin Cities media personality who doesn’t shy away from difficult conversations, first launched “The Sheletta Show” in 2020, and has since aired over 1,050 episodes featuring insightful interviews with local leaders dedicated to making a difference for a better Minnesota.

“Sheletta inspires me to keep going as a Black lady,” said Cozy Washington, a loyal listener since the podcast’s inception. “She has the attitude that if she can do it, you can do it – she is love in action.”

Washington, who first met Brundidge in the community at a church Easter event in 2020, remarked that her podcast coverage during the George Floyd uprising was some of the best radio that she’d ever heard.

She credits Brundidge for bringing people together regardless of race or color, and like many other loyal listeners, especially appreciates the awareness, lovingkindness and support she’s brought to the autism community.

“The Sheletta Show” covers a range of topics with live guests, from creating a safer community to tips on mitigating lead paint in older homes to mental health awareness and suicide prevention to empowering Black entrepreneurs. Episodes have shed light on financial literacy, affordable housing, autism, foster care, recycling programs, community initiatives and events, and much more.

“We talk about stuff that nobody else is talking about because I’m not afraid and I have courage,” said Brundidge.

Brand Manager and Program Director for WCCO Radio, Brad Lane, who worked with Sheletta at Hubbard Broadcasting when she was with myTalk 107 and again at WCCO, loves having her on the WCCO Radio team as a consistent rule-breaker and someone who defies the status quo.

"Sheletta is one of the most transcendent and compellingly unconventional personalities out there today – her voice cuts through the clutter,” said Lane. “I've never worked with a more impactful advocate and self-promoter. Miss B gets people's attention with her unique takes and acerbic wit - she refuses to be ignored!”

No stranger to accolades, Brundidge and her production company, ShelettaMakesMeLaugh.com, recently received the prestigious regional Board of Governors Emmy® Award for their exceptional coverage of Black Entrepreneurs Day last February at the Minnesota Capitol.

Brundidge is humbled by the recognition for her work, and even more honored to connect with podcast listeners and hear that she’s helping make a real difference in their lives, especially when it comes to bringing people together to foster a better, more inclusive community.
